LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Bonita Springs man who tried to kill a Fort Myers Police officer will spend the next 45 years in prison.
Berny McClellan was convicted last week of attempted second degree murder. This stems from a 2017 shooting on MLK Boulevard.
Police say McClellan was with a group of people who sped off during a traffic stop. When his vehicle slammed into another car, he got out and began shooting at police.
This isn't McClellan's first arrest. In 2016 he pleaded guilty to one count of theft in Lee County. He got probation for that.
He was also arrested in October of 2018 for attempted murder and robbery in Hendry County.
