Best places to retire in Florida includes Fort Myers, according to study

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Florida is often ranked as one of the best places in the county to retire. But where in Florida should people go once they retire?

A WalletHub survey says Sarasota is the place to go. The home of Siesta Key took the #1 spot.

Among Southwest Florida cities, Fort Myers came in at #8, Immokalee at #12, Bonita Springs at #16, and Cape Coral ranked #21.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lehigh Acres is ranked as one of the worst places in Southwest Florida to retire, at #81.

WalletHub compared 115 of Florida’s largest cities across 28 key indicators of retiree-friendliness. Their data set ranges from cost of living to health care facilities per capita to number of attractions.
