Big changes coming to Southwest Florida International Airport

Posted

The U.S. Department of Transportation gave Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) a $2.7 million dollar infrastructure grant.

The money will be used on runways, taxiways, and terminal projects.

The grant is part of the Airport Improvement Program.

According to U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao, "these grants will help Southwest Florida International Airport better serve the flying public, as well as strengthening the economy and creating jobs in this community".

The Airport Improvement Program grants funds to airports based on need in order to maintain safety and efficiency in airports nationwide.
