LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Thanks to community donations, the non-profit organization Blessings in a Backpack is now able to serve over 5,000 students for the first time.
The organization sends Lee and Collier County students home with food on Friday to help them and their families through the weekend.
Each student gets two breakfasts and two lunches.
23 schools are now part of the program, including RCMA in Immokalee, which is the first school in Collier County to get food.
