LEE COUNTY, Fla. --- Neighbors in two communities in Alva were surprised to learn about five burglaries that took place in their neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Residents in Hampton Lakes and Cascades at River Hall were both targeted. The communities are still relatively new. There's still construction happening in parts of the complex. One neighbor, however, did have his security cameras installed and it caught the five robberies as they happened.

"I'm not happy about it but I'm also kind of surprised 'cause I wasn't expecting that," says Connie Everson.

She just moved into the neighborhood and was surprised to hear about so many burglaries took place at one time near her home.

The security footage installed on one home on Hampton Boulevard, shows two women walking into the complex from the woods in the back. A trucks drives in from those same woods shortly after. Later, the footage shows an ATV being pushed out of the neighborhood by one suspect while the other one is riding it.

The ATV was one of two that were stolen from a house Thursday morning. Another woman had a pair of sunglasses taken out of her car. At one point, the thieves broke into another woman's car and stole her garage remote to try and gain access to her house. They failed to do so.

Despite the robberies, neighbors like Connie still feel safe in their neighborhoods.

"I feel just as safe as I did before. Hopefully it was just some odd event and they'll figure out who did it," says Everson.
