Burglars target Lehigh community

Posted

Several people have been left rattled and frustrated after thieves targeted their cars and homes overnight in a Lehigh Acres community. Lee County deputies are investigating more than half a dozen reports along Barclay avenue, Halsey avenue, and Brannen street.

Four In Your Corner spoke to one victim who says thieves broke into her car and stole her wallet. She says the same people also took off with her husbands truck which was later found along with a couple four wheelers in a desolate area nearby.

“I think they’re kind of guessing that it might be some young kids just because how many people are on four wheelers around here,” the woman asking to remain unidentified said. “Detectives said they would be processing the truck for evidence. It may help find out who’s behind the break-ins.”

Lee County deputies also responded to a home on Halsey avenue. Deputies found the two four-wheelers were stolen from the owner’s garage.

Neighbors say they are working on installing cameras and will be remaining vigilant until the people responsible for the burglaries get caught.
