CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral City Council voting to change the name of a school named after a teacher killed in the challenger explosion.

Cape Coral Charter Schools wants to change Christa McAuliffe Charter Elementary to Oasis Elementary North.

In order to reflect the Oasis brand. It is now up to the Lee County School District to approve the name change.

McAuliffe was the first teacher in space. She died when the space shuttle exploded in 1986.
