CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape Coral firefighter was laid to rest Thursday.

Cape Coral fire engineer Michael Camelo died from a brain aneurysm last week. His viewing was Wednesday at Gendron Funeral Home, and his funeral was held Thursday at St. Andrew Catholic Church.

“It’s a tragic loss, and we felt that…we felt that pain today. We’re going to continue to remember Mike through the lives that he saved. Actually, yesterday, one of the people that he actually physically saved, from his Pheonix Award, was able to come and pay their respects. So his impact is going to be far, and outlast his life. He’s touched millions,” said  Cape Coral Fire Chief Ryan Lamb.

Camelo leaves behind two kids, and money is being raised to help cover funeral costs and support his family.
