BIG SUR, Calif. - A Cape Coral man was arrested for starting a fire in California.

Monterey County deputies say Michael Manneback was illegally camping in the Partington Canyon, when he started a warming fire.

They say the fire then caught sections of dry needles and grass on fire.

Several maintenance workers with California State Parks saw the smoke in the canyon, called it in and started battling the fire.

Deputies say fire crews then arrived to contain the fire to a 100 foot by 100 foot section.

Deputies were later able to find Manneback.

They arrested him and transported him to the Monterey County Jail where he is facing arson charges on a $55,000 bond.

This isn't Manneback's first arrest.

He was arrested four other times since 2007 in Lee County. A few of them include drug charges.
