CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Cape Coral Police responded to a traffic accident at midnight on Skyline Boulevard.
James Anthony Mediano was driving a 2009 gray Toyota Avalon and was traveling southbound in the outside travel lane of Skyline Boulevard.
Nelson Luis Garrido was prone on the roadway, in the outside southbound travel lane of Skyline Boulevard.
The front of the Toyota Avalon Mediano was driving struck Nelson Luis Garrido.
Garrido came to final rest in the southbound outside travel lane of Skyline Boulevard, approximately 65 feet from the area of impact.
Mediano made a controlled stop and came to rest on the southbound outside shoulder of Skyline Boulevard, approximately 170 feet from the area of impact.
Garrido was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he later died as a result of injuries sustained in the traffic crash.
Cape Coral Police say drug and alcohol tests are pending.
