FORT MYERS, Fla — A Cape Coral police officer has been issued a criminal citation after being involved in a hit-and-run crash while on duty.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash at Homewoods Suites in Fort Myers earlier this month.
A hotel employee says she found her rear side door damaged when she was leaving work.
After reviewing the surveillance cameras, they saw the officer's truck hit the employee's car.
Investigators say the officer got out to inspect the damages of his truck then drove away.
