CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape Coral Police officer who slammed her SUV into a home last December while drunk has resigned from the force.

Emily Zyvoloski, who was off-duty at the time of the crash, was found guilty of misdemeanor DUI and property damage last month.

Investigators say her blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit when she plowed into a home on Nicholas Parkway on December 3rd.

As part of her conviction, she must pay more than $1,000 in fines, serve a year of probation, attend DUI school, and install an ignition interlock device in her car for six months.

Following her conviction, an Internal Affairs investigation was launched, which concluded on June 6th.   The investigation sustained all allegations of policy violations made.

Zyvoloski tendered her resignation to the Cape Coral Police Department on June 5th prior to the conclusion of the investigation.
