CAPE CORAL, FL. - The Cape Coral Police Department is out-sourcing school crossing-guards to a private company.
This move is to free up officers to patrol the community. The police department says officers were asked 81 times over the last two years to cover school crosswalks when guards were unavailable.
Out-sourcing its program is expected to save Cape Coral more than 65-thousand-dollars a year.
