CAPE CORAL, Fla — The Cape Coral Police Department announced the passing of K-9 Kevin, also known as Kevlar.
The department says Kevin joined the team in May of 2009 and was partnered and trained by K-9 Officer Aponte.
He was certified in patrol, tracking, and narcotics detection through NPCA and FLECA.
Throughout his career, Kevin was responsible for hundreds of suspect apprehensions, hundreds of drug arrests, and participated in public K-9 demonstrations.
He retired in 2016 and continued doing until his Lymphoma diagnosis in 2019.
