Captiva erosion prevention plan approved

LEE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS GIVING THE OKAY, TO SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR LOCAL BEACHES AFTER IRMA.
LEE COUNTY WILL SET ASIDE 25-THOUSAND-DOLLARS... TO HELP CAPTIVA RECOVER FROM EROSION. THE "EROSION PREVENTION DISTRICT"... SAYS AN EROSION STUDY WILL COST ABOUT 50-THOUSAND-DOLLARS.... AND THE ORGANIZATION WILL COVER HALF OF IT. 
THE REST WOULD COME FROM THE COUNTY'S TOURIST TAX REVENUE. 
THE COUNTY IS ALSO THINKING ABOUT SPENDING 200-THOUSAND-DOLLARS TO RENOURISH CRESCENT BEACH PARK... ON FORT MYERS BEACH.

 

Lee County Commissioners are giving the okay to spend thousands of dollars to repair local beaches after Irma.

The county will set aside $25,000 to help Captiva recover from erosion. The "Erosion Prevention District" says a study will could around $50,000 and the organization will cover half of that.

The rest comes from the county's Tourist Tax revenue.

Lee County is also considering spending $200,000 to renourish Crescent Beach park on Fort Myers Beach.
