The crash involved three cars and had the roadway shut down for several hours.
The Sheriff's Office said Captain Brady & Deputy Chala responded, and went over the bridge and into the water, searching for the driver. Once they found him, the two did CPR on top of the man's submerged truck until a rescue boat arrived. The man was taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.
The department said the crash is still under investigation.
The Southbound lanes of the Caloosahatchee Bridge will remain closed for a period of time while we complete a traffic crash investigation. Please seek alternate route. pic.twitter.com/ktidcZcECT
