Carjacking and armed robbery believed to be connected in Fort Myers

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators are looking for a man they believe performed a carjacking at a Fort Myers restaurant overnight and later robbed a convenience store.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, shortly after midnight Sunday night, two co-workers were sitting in a car outside the PDQ restaurant on S. Cleveland Avenue north of College Parkway when a man with a bandana over his face pointed a gun at them and ordered them out of the car.

The suspect drove off in the car and headed south on Cleveland Avenue.

Less than a hour later, an armed robbery was reported 17 miles away at the 7-Eleven located near the intersection of Estero Parkway and Three Oaks Parkway.

That suspect was also wearing a bandana over his face and fled the scene in a Honda Insight, believed to be the same one stolen at the PDQ.

Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the armed suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
