A resident of the Sandoval neighborhood in Cape Coral snapped a picture of a big black bear early Saturday morning.
Deborah Johnson's husband was out taking his dog for a walk at 3:30 in the morning when he came back home, got in his truck and saw the big animal in his yard.
The bear then took off down the street and into the bushes.
His wife says he knew she wouldn't believe him unless he got a picture, so he followed the bear and eventually saw him again when he ran across the headlights of his car and he was able to get a picture of it.
Deborah says her and her husband are in complete shock that a bear was that close to their home.
That isn't the only recent sighting of a black bear, either.
Cape Coral Police Department posted a picture on their Facebook of what some believe is the same bear. It was spotted less than a mile away from the Johnson's neighborhood.
Another family in Naples recently posted a picture of a bear in their backyard.
FWC says there are more bears in Florida today then in the last 100 years.
