Caught on Camera: Thieves steal Collier County man's boat

A trio of crooks recently drove off with a Collier County man's boat. But what these crooks didn't know is that a camera was snapping pictures of them coming on the property and pulling the boat away.

Now Collier County deputies are looking for that trio.

Richard Paganes sees a lot of wildlife on the 15 acres of land he owns in Golden Gate.  "Panthers, gators bobcats, deer," he said.

Most recently a trio of two legged species wandered onto Paganes property and made off with his boat.

They didn't blend in as well as the security camera did.  "I had the boat parked over here, you can see the log that it was sitting on."

Richard just bought the boat recently, and left it there Saturday.  But before he could take his first ride on it, it disappeared.  "I checked my surveillance cameras, and found the picture of the gentleman coming in on a Sunday night, they came in at 8:02.  They came in without a boat, came in here turned around and drove out."

The three men caught on camera weren't on Paganes' property very long, but still managed to help themselves to some other items.  "Some chains, a little water pump, an axe."

Paganes says he originally bought surveillance cameras to view the wildlife, but recently he's seen the same set of thieves here in February.  "I'll chain anything down that I bring out here in the future, and get a better gate, and a few more cameras."

Richard says if the thieves bring back his boat undamaged he may consider not pressing charges.

If you've seen the men identified in the video, call the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
