COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Collier County Deputies arrested a suspect connected to a hit-run accident and possession of marijuana Friday night.
Deputies say they were alerted to a crash with injuries, and a suspect leaving the scene of the accident. Authorities say a car matching the suspected vehicle was seeing driving slowly and swerving on Randal Blvd.
Deputies say the caller followed the car until it turned off on Everglades Blvd. onto 24th Ave. NE.
When authorities got there, they found the car disabled on the side of the road. Deputies say the driver, Jonathon Wright, was standing outside of the car.
In the arrest report, Wright stated he pulled over on Randal Blvd. and 8th St. NE when the other car drove past him without stopping.
Wright told deputies he decided to go home without calling the police.
However, deputies say the accident happened on Wilson Blvd. and 24th Ave. NE, where the other car was completely disabled.
The driver of the other car was transported to the hospital with injuries.
Deputies say they found a white bottle containing marijuana in Wright's car.
Authorities say Wright told them he had a medical marijuana card, but upon further investigation, deputies didn't find a valid medical license under his name.
Deputies say Wright is a convicted felon. Wright has been in and out jail for multiple charges. Some of those charges included, possession of drugs with intent to sell and assault with a deadly weapon.
Wright was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash, hit and run failure to stop, and possession of marijuana.
