CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Charlotte County Fire and EMS rescued a dog from a burning house Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters responded to a house engulfed in fire and found Shadow the dog inside.
Officials say the homeowner was not home when the fire started.
First responders say the home is a total loss and the Red Cross also responded to assist the homeowner with a place to stay for a few nights.
The fire is believed to have started on the back deck.
Officials say the State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
