Charlotte County school placed on lockdown after report of gun

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- We're learning a Southwest Florida High School was put on lockdown Tuesday after a student said he had a gun on campus.

According to the Charlotte County School District, there was a fight in the gymnasium at Port Charlotte High School where witnesses say one of the students in the fight shouted out that he had a gun.

Students went into a panic and the school was put on lockdown.

Both students involved in the fight were searched and we're told neither had a gun.

The lockdown was eventually lifted.
