CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) IT audit detected suspicious activity that led to disciplinary action against School Resource Officer (SRO) David Imbruno, who was browsing porn from a school computer.

The audit was conducted on Nov. 18, and revealed that access to pornography websites was attempted through Imbruno's school staff access. The school system blocked most of the inappropriate content.

Imbruno was placed on administrative leave with pay during a preliminary criminal investigation. No criminal activities were found, and Imbruno returned to duty as a road patrol deputy, pending the results of an Internal Affairs Investigation.

CCPS activity reports for Imbruno's login from Sept. 8 to Nov. 17 (the maximum time frame the school’s system can query), revealed several searches for inappropriate content, including "reddit nsfw 2020," "personals," and similar terms.

All the searches were made from one computer, identified as the desktop computer in the SRO office at Vineland Elementary.

Imbruno admitted searching for inappropriate materials using the school’s computer system during school hours, while on duty.

Imbruno was disciplined for Conduct Unbecoming. He received a 48-hour suspension without pay, six months disciplinary probation, removal from the specialty unit, but may reapply after one year.
