City of Cape Coral donates historic fossil to museum

The City of Cape Coral will donate a fossil bone to the Cape Coral Historical Museum during a reception. 

The event is hosted by the Cape Coral Historical Society and will take place at the Museum located at 544 Cultural Park Boulevard at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 6th. The reception is open to the public. 

The fossil bone probably belonged to a mammoth or mastodon and was discovered during the City's North 2 utility extension project.The bone could be 12,000 to 2.5 million years old and was found approximately 17 feet underground.
