The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) officials say they are seeing the effects of the current Karenia brevis bloom happening off the coast of Lee and Collier counties.
They posted these photos to Facebook saying since the beginning of the month, 24 double-crested cormorants have been showing signs of red tide poisoning. Twenty-three of them have been admitted within the last week.
Veterinarians are hoping they can reduce the effects the toxins have had on the bird's body.
