Right now, investigators are still looking into the motive for the deadly Dayton mass shooting, but the El Paso shooting suspect could face federal hate crime charges.
Fox 4 took a closer look into how many white supremacist groups really exist in our communities.
According to Southern Poverty Law Center, there are 8 white nationalist groups in Florida.
SPLC monitors hate groups and other extremists throughout the country.
In 2018, they tracked more than 1,000 hate groups nationwide.
Most of the hate groups in Florida are either white supremacists, anti-muslim groups or black nationalists.
According to SPLC's website, there were 75 hate groups in Florida last year, Including one in Southwest Florida.
There was an anti-muslim group in Immokalee in Collier County.
SPLC categorizes any organization that prejudices based on race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity as a hate group.
They’ve been publishing this information since 1990.
And every year, they have researchers and analysts monitor hate activity and then share it with the public.
