UPDATE (11:30 PM)-- The Collier County Sheriffs Office announced they have a suspect in connection with an arson fire that claimed the life of one person in Golden Gate early this morning.

Detectives said the suspect had been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and arson.

According to detectives, five people, including the suspect and victim, were inside the residence when the fire broke out.

One person suffered injuries and was transported by ambulance to a burn center on the east coast for treatment.

This is still an ongoing investigation.


Collier County Sheriffs responded to a residential fire in 5200 block of 24th Avenue SW around midnight last night.

Not many details are available, but detectives said they're still investigating a death in relation to this incident.
