COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Collier County deputies safely took an armed man into custody late Thursday after he stabbed a man during an altercation in Immokalee.

According to reports, the victim was in his room, on South 4th Street, shortly before 11 p.m., when Obduliu Godines, who lives in the same rooming house, kicked open the door and came at him with a knife, saying “I’m going to kill you now.”

The victim tried to use a backpack as a shield but Godines managed to stab him in the left arm. Godines ran out of the victim’s room and barricaded in his own room.

Deputies gave several verbal commands in English and Spanish, and Godines opened the door and started to come out. A deputy ordered him to turn around and put his hands up. As Godines was coming out of the room, the deputy observed him remove a knife from his left front pocket and drop it on the floor.

Deputies quickly apprehended Godines and took him into custody without incident.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Godines, 36, was arrested and is facing charges of burglary with battery and aggravated battery.
