Collier County high schools do well on national rankings list

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- U.S. News and World Report have released their annual rankings of America's high schools, and among Southwest Florida school districts, Collier County has some of the best high schools.

The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 23,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. More than 17,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.

In Collier County, Lorenzo Walker Technical School ranked at #60 in Florida, followed by Gulf Coast High at #64, and Barron Collier at #73.

In Lee County, Fort Myers High School was the top-ranked high school in the county at #67, followed by Cape Coral High School at #150 and North Fort Myers High School at #174.

In Charlotte County, Lemon Bay High School ranked #180 in the state, followed by Edison Collegiate High School in Punta Gorda at #246, and Charlotte High at #247.

Hendry County's LeBelle High ranked at #357, and Clewiston High at #359.

Florida's #1 high school, according to the list, is Pine View School in Sarasota County.
