COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Students returned to classes in Collier County on Tuesday, and sheriff's deputies have been on the road since then to help create a safe environment for them to arrive.
Their aggressive driving and commercial vehicle teams were on duty Wednesday morning and afternoon, monitoring bus routes and school zones.
The following citations and warning were issued:
3 citations for passing a school bus
4 citations for violation of a traffic control device
1 citation for running a red light
1 citation for texting and driving
6 citations for speeding
1 warning for illegal tint
1 warning for failure to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle
Deputies say will continue to enforce the rules of the road the rest of the week and all school year.
