MARCO ISLAND, Fla-- SWFL residents near Marco Island have recently complained about the mosquitos in the area. Some visitors tell FOX4 they've resorted to sitting in their car to enjoy the water rather than risk getting attacked by swarms of mosquitos.
“I grew up in New Jersey with lots of mosquitos but have never had mosquito bites this bad,” said Mike Hultz.
The Collier Mosquito Control District said the last spray near Marco Island was on May 12.
"Our surveillance program indicates very high numbers of salt marsh mosquitoes in the Marco Island and Henderson Creek areas, and we have scheduled two missions tonight for these areas," said a CMCD spokesperson.
CMCD has a scheduled spray for May 15 near the Golden Gates Estates area.
CMCD said if you are experiencing an issue with mosquitoes that you would like to report CLICK HERE.
