SANIBEL, Fla. -- Wednesday, an ordinance regulating gas powered leaf blowers goes into effect on Sanibel Island.
The ordinance was adopted by the Sanibel city council last month.
It only applies for those using the leaf blowers for commercial purposes or by city employees.
They can only operate them Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. They are prohibited on certain holidays.
Resident use of the leaf blowers will not be affected by the ordinance.
They can continue to use them every day, between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
