FORT MYERS, Fla. – Ten people were injured in a crash on Interstate 75 in Fort Myers Sunday night, causing northbound lanes to be shut down.
All lanes have since reopened.
This happened just north of the Daniels Parkway exit around 7 p.m.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford SUV began to slow down for traffic when it was rear-ended by a car. A Nissan SUV then hit the rear of the car.
The first collision caused the Ford SUV to rollover. Its driver, 57-year-old Cindy Porter of Fort Myers, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The car’s driver, 40-year-old Carlos Perozo of Tampa, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Three other passengers in the car, including an 8-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries.
The Nissan SUV had six occupants from the Miami area. Five of them sustained minor injuries.
Troopers have charged Perozo with careless driving.
