FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Southwest Florida middle school student is facing charges, accused of making a shooting threat.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested a 13-year-old student from Cypress Lake Middle School on Thursday.

We're not identifying the child because of his age.

Deputies say that on September 17th, the boy first reported to the School Resource Officer that someone wrote “I will shoot up this school” inside of a bathroom stall.

But investigators say he was in fact behind the threat.

The student is facing felony charges of intimidation/sending a written threat to kill and making a false report.

“This afternoon’s arrest is a reminder of our zero tolerance policy on threats against our schools and students,” said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I’ve said it before: See it, Say it, Make the call.”
