**UPDATE (12:30PM)** -- Police have ruled Monday morning's fatal shooting a justifiable homicide.

According to North Port Police, the shooting victim was the aggressor towards a female resident in front of her home, and the man who fired the fatal shot qualified for being in fear for his life and possessed proper concealed weapons permits.

Police have not yet released the names of any of the people involved in the incident, or any other details of what happened.

We'll update as we learn more.

NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Police have launched a death investigation after responding to a shooting at a home on Hyde Park Lane Monday morning.

According to a North Port Police spokesman, officers responded to a home in the 4900 block of Hyde Park Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

Police say an altercation took place outside the home between two men and a woman, and one of the men ended up dead.

A shooting has been confirmed at the scene, but police are not sure if it was self-inflicted or otherwise.  Police are questioning all people involved, and no suspects are at large.
