CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A death investigation is underway for the Charlotte County Sheriff’s office.
UPDATE: Port Charlotte teen killed during a home break-in
There is an active scene at Starlite Lane and Inman Court in Port Charlotte.
Deputies said they were called to the area around 4:30 Thursday afternoon about a suspicious man who was hurt. The man is in custody and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The sheriff’s office said the man was seen running in the neighborhood bleeding.
Fox 4 spoke with a neighbor who’s lived here for five years and has never seen this kind of activity near her home. “Pretty quiet street; most of the people on the street are elderly. There are a few homes that are younger, but it’s all pretty quiet. Kids play in the road and play basketball,” said Norma Rogers.
Detectives have continued to work the scene through the night, and as of 6 a.m. a section of Starlite Lane remained closed to traffic..
The sheriff's office will give another update on the death investigation Friday morning.
