Collier County Deputies say they had to arrest a man after he pulled out a weapon at Physicians Regional Hospital.
Deputies say Ryan Bennett brought his friend to the hospital for a leg injury early Sunday morning. Witnesses told deputies that after waiting for a few minutes, Bennett grew impatient demanding to know when his friend would get treatment. Hospital employees say they told Bennett that the emergency room was full and asked for his patience.
Witnesses say Bennett then became angry and verbally aggressive, according to the police report. Hospital security was called and attempted to calm Bennett down.
The police report says, Bennett then went out to his truck. When he came back inside, he started taking pictures of the staff and arguing with them. When security tried to stop him, Bennett began fighting the security guard.
Deputies say during the fight, someone noticed that Bennett had a weapon. Hospital staff was able to wrestle the gun away from the him and keep him subdued until deputies arrived.
Bennett is facing charges for battery on a law enforcement officer, and bringing a weapon into a hospital.
