LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Two more armed robberies took place in Lehigh Acres overnight Sunday night, adding to a lengthy list of late night armed robberies in recent weeks.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the first incident occurred at 11:50 p.m. on Sunday at the Mobil gas station on Joel Boulevard near Country Club Boulevard. The on-duty clerk saw two black males, wearing masks and carrying handguns, quickly approach the front door of the store. The men were unable to get in, since the door was locked and all transactions at that hour are conducted through a window.
Realizing they couldn’t gain entry, the suspects quickly left on foot headed eastbound.
Then, at 2:25 a.m., two black males entered the 7-Eleven, located on Meadow Road near the intersection of Sunshine Road and State Road 82 in Lehigh Acres. Armed with handguns, the men demanded cash from the registers. The clerk was only able to open one register, and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.
After one of the suspects threatened the employee, he handed over the remaining two registers in fear for his life.
This same location was the scene of an attempted robbery last week, in which the would-be robbers were attacked by an employee and chased from the store.
Both suspects are described as approximately 6’0” with a thin build. They both wore all dark clothing and masks.
Anyone with any information on the identities and whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
