FORT MYERS, Fla. - Detectives in Southwest Florida say a telltale wig helped them catch an armed robber.
Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies said after a 7-Eleven store on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers was robbed Saturday, a cashier gave them a description of a pistol-wielding robber who was wearing a wig and a gray hoodie.
Witnesses led deputies to an apartment complex, where they say they found a suspect who matched the description given by the cashier.
Deputies say when they searched the apartment after obtaining a warrant, they found a gray-hooded sweater, several wigs and a large amount of wadded up cash in an open dresser drawer.
The suspect, 28-year-old David Rodriguez, faces a robbery charge.
Online court records show he was in jail Sunday. There was no record of legal counsel.
