Dixie Roadhouse gets extended hours back

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- In another unanimous decision, Cape Coral city council members will allow Dixie Roadhouse to stay open until 3 in the morning.

The popular bar lost the extended hours back in January after a 40-person fight started and spilled into the streets.

But Dixie's managers say that won't happen again. They've added new security measures, including 60 security cameras and a new ID scanner.

The bar's lawyer says the added hours are a plus for the community. “They're extremely engaged and active in providing not only charitable benefits to the citizens of Cape Coral, but also a good, solid tax base
for the city of Cape Coral,” says Sawyer Smith. “It's a good day when the city of Cape Coral stands up for small business.”

Dixie will also screen people for weapons 4 nights a week for the rest of May. They'll wand guests on weekends through this time next year.
