LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A dog left for dead after it was shot in the head near a canal in Leigh Acres.

Fox 4 spoke to the good samaritan who tried to rescue the animal.

Jarrod Salisbury says he was out with a friend on Sunday evening, when he came across a horrific discovery, on Hines Avenue. and 16th Terrace.

“I initially thought she had been hit by a car, and then upon further inspection, I noticed that she did have a bullet hole above her right eye that exited on her lower jaw, ” said Salisbury.

“There is just no reason for an act like that, ” said Salisbury.

The Lee County Domestic Animal Services kept the dog under close observation as they worked to save her.
