Dog in the road causes crash with injuries in Golden Gate Estates

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers say two drivers were seriously injured Tuesday evening when one driver swerved to avoid a dog.

It happened just before 6 p.m. on White Boulevard near 27th Street SW in the Golden Gate Estates area.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Tyler Von Holle was driving east on White Boulevard when he swerved into the westbound lane to avoid a dog walking in the road.

His SUV collided head-on with a westbound pickup truck driven by 27-year-old David Bartkoske.

Von Holle was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Bartkoske ws taken to NCH Baker Hospital in serious condition.

No charges have been filed, but the crash remains under investigation.
