COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- One man is in custody after deputies say he led them on a high-speed chase on Interstate 75 early Tuesday.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started around 2:30 a.m. at Golden Gate and Collier boulevards.

Deputies say it started as an attempted traffic stop where the driver kept going.

Deputies say around 3 a.m., the man's car overheated and he slowed to a stop.

One deputy has minor injuries because of the chase, but is otherwise okay.

The interstate was briefly shut down near mile marker 110, but is now open again.

They have not given a possible reason for why the man ran in the first place, or released his identity.
