CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape woman was trauma alerted to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a bizarre crash on Cape Coral Parkway.
According to Cape Coral Police, at 2:10pm, 86-year-old Maria Pando was driving west on Cape Coral Parkway and stopped behind other traffic at a red light at Palm Tree Boulevard.
Pando then accelerated and swerved right onto the sidewalk before crossing the intersection diagonally and crashing into two eastbound SUV's, suffering serious injuries as a result.
One of those SUV's rolled over onto another SUV in the crash, causing minor injuries to two people inside.
No other people were injured in the crash.
CCPD's Major Crash Investigator is still investigating the incident, but says the crash was not drug or alcohol related.
