CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- The bald eagle protection zones in Cape Coral, which restrict how close you can build to a nest, will remain.
The city council voted down a proposed ordinance Monday to reduce the buffer zone to 650 feet, which is the federal guideline.
The eagle management zones in the city are currently 1100 feet.
If you own property and plan to remove nest trees, or build a single family home or duplex, you need to get an eagle nest management plan.
