One dead, one injured in domestic Lehigh Acres shooting

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead after an early morning shooting Thursday in Lehigh Acres.

According to the sheriff's office, around 2:30 am, deputies arrived at the 2800 block of 52nd Street West two find two gunshot victims.

Both victims were transported to the hospital for their injuries, but one of them has died.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.

Investigators say there is no threat to the community and that this was an isolated incident.

UPDATE (2:30PM) -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested 25-year-old Kerome Brown and charged him with Second Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder, Child Abuse, Shooting into an Occupied Conveyance, and felony Fleeing and Eluding.

They say Brown was in an argument with a woman, who had called a friend, Edgar Harrell, to come pick her up.  When Harrell arrived, the woman fled to his car with an 11-month-old child.

Investigators say Brown approached the vehicle and opened fire, striking both adults and causing lacerations to the child.

Harrell died from his injuries.  The woman is being treated at an area hospital.

Deputies who were nearby heard the gunshots and responded to the scene, where they saw Brown driving away.  Brown sped away from deputies, and after a 6-minute, chase, deputies were able to stop his vehicle with a PIT manuever.

Brown was arrested and taken to Lee County Jail.
