LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A family is trying to turn their loss into something beautiful for families to share.

In honor of their five year old son Eli who passed suddenly, the Butcher family started the Dwelling Place Project.

Eli’s parents said their son was full of life and loved the outdoors, and they loved to share that time with him.

They wanted to give other families a way to experience time with loved ones.

The Butcher family envisions building a small retreat center where families can get away to make memories.

The Dwelling Place Project is hosting an event on April 4th.

Families or individuals wanting to meet the Butcher family and honor Eli can head to Babcock Ranch from 9 am to 12 pm.

The cost is $25 for an individual and $50 for a family.
