LEE COUNTY, Fla. ---- A fatal crash along State Road 80 on Tuesday afternoon has left a Port Charlotte woman dead.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. along Palm Beach Boulevard near the intersection of Orange River Boulevard.
According to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol, Helene Lang, 57, was driving in the wrong direction on Palm Beach Boulevard and drove through the intersection of Orange River Boulevard and collided with a driver of a 2010 Honda.
Investigators say, the driver of the Honda steered into the right turning lane at the intersection of Orange River, attempting to get out of the way. Lang swiped the car and hit the left side of the driver mirror.
A Florida Highway Patrol report says Lang continued driving in the wrong direction and hit the front of a GMC truck. Langs' car rotated, hitting a wire fence before coming to a final stop.
The driver and passenger of the GMC truck were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries. Lang was pronounced dead at the scene.
