LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers shut down State Road 82 at Columbus Boulevard for over 5 hours due to a fatal crash early Monday morning.
The crash was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m., and involved a dump truck and a passenger car.
Florida Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Jonathan Otero of Lehigh Acres was driving on Columbus Boulevard and didn't stop at a stop sign at S.R. 82 when he pulled into the path of a westbound dump truck.
The truck hit the left side of the car, killing Otero.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the crash is still under investigation.
The road was reopened shortly after 12 p.m. Monday.
