LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies say a North Fort Myers man is in jail again after a clumsy incident with a handgun.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call of an accidental shooting on Wednesday, and arrived to find 39-year-old Tobbie Conley with a gunshot wound in the thigh. He told deputies that he accidentally shot himself while placing a handgun in his pocket.
Conley was taken to Lee Memorial for treatment, but meanwhile deputies discovered that Conley is a convicted felon. He was convicted in Lee County for Heroin Trafficking, Cocaine Possession and Possession of a Controlled Substance in 2018.
As a convicted felon, it is illegal for Conley to possess firearms.
After being medically cleared, he was transported to the Lee County Jail.
